The driver of a box van which crashed into a barrier near the White House on Monday night has been arrested by US Secret Service officials.
The incident occurred just before 10pm local time on the northern edge of Lafayette Square, a few hundred metres from the White House.
No one was hurt and the rental truck was later deemed safe by District of Columbia police, the Secret Service said.

“There were no injuries to any Secret Service or White House personnel and the cause and manner of the crash remain under investigation,” the agency said in a statement.
A Nazi flag was found during a search of the van and photos emerged of it laid out on the tarmac.
