The discovery of a body on a beach might seem as conventional a TV drama opening as you can imagine. But this three-parter, based on an idea developed by its star Suranne Jones with the writer Anne Marie O’Connor, is anything but run-of-the-mill. The dead woman is Mary and the location is the Isle of Man, which compounds the shock for Mary’s adult daughters, Becca (Jones) and Rosaline (Eve Best). Mary had led everyone to believe she was holidaying in Wales. She, of course, cannot answer her daughters’ many questions and the slow reveals can be surprising and intense, but rarely stretch credulity. In many ways this is
