The controversy surrounding the circumstances in which Tiger Woods split last year from his girlfriend Erica Herman deepened last night after Sports Illustrated in the US reproduced excerpts from the latest filings in Herman’s lawsuit against the golfer.

In March, it emerged that Herman, who had originally worked for the 15-time major champion at his Woods Jupiter restaurant in Florida, wanted $30 million (about £24 million) in damages, citing an oral agreement allowing her to stay at his residence which, she claimed, he then reneged on when she was locked out of the home soon after their break-up last October.
