Schools should ban smartphones to stop pupils taking photos of children in lavatories and changing rooms, campaigners told MPs.

Children were suffering damage from seeing pornography and part of that was due to so many having smartphones, the Commons’ women and equalities committee heard. It was taking evidence on sex and relationship lessons from organisations calling for change and those working with schools.

Lucy Marsh, of the Family Education Trust charity, told MPs: “We’ve got to consider the amount of children that have access to smartphones. I think that schools are not addressing the harm this does to children in being able to form healthy relationships when they’re adults.
