US PGA Championship: Paul Casey given special invite for Oak Hill

Paul Casey has been given a discretionary place in next week’s US PGA Championship because he is “good for our event” as a total of 18 LIV Golf players head to Oak Hill in Rochester.

The Englishman, 45, failed to make it into the Masters in April after tumbling down the rankings, but has been handed a berth in the year’s second major because of past performances. Casey, who is facing a huge retrospective fine from the DP World Tour for playing on the LIV Golf circuit, is now ranked 131st in the world due to the Saudi-backed tour not receiving ranking points, but was second and fourth at the US PGA Championship in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
