Concern is growing over the fitness of Ollie Robinson after the England fast bowler was seen wearing a protective boot on his damaged left ankle.

Robinson is expected to be a key figure in the Ashes, which start on June 16, but the alarm was raised when he missed two sessions of Sussex’s County Championship match with Glamorgan at Hove on Saturday.

The 29-year-old was absent again on Sunday, as the match ended in a draw, but emerged from the changing room to shake hands with the opposition wearing a boot on his left foot and using a crutch to walk.

Robinson will undergo a scan on Monday to determine if there is any fracture. Paul Farbrace, the Sussex head coach, insisted the boot was
