Plans for a £900 million life sciences campus in Stevenage, creating one of Europe’s largest clusters, have been submitted to the local authority.

UBS Asset Management and Reef Group, a development partner, announced a joint venture last year to acquire and develop land at a GSK research site in Hertfordshire.

The venture is seeking approval from Stevenage borough council to create an estimated 1.6 million sq ft of laboratory, manufacturing and office facilities, providing space for up to 5,000 “highly skilled” new jobs.

The campus will feature a central green and consist of 15 new buildings connected by publicly accessible and landscaped open spaces complete with restaurants, cafés and leisure facilities for employees.

The master plan has been designed to allow life science businesses to
