Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr fined for pre-fight sexuality and adultery insults

Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr have been fined for offensive remarks made in a crass press conference before their fight in Manchester in January.

Sky Sports was forced to make an on-air apology after Smith, 34, taunted Eubank, 33, over whether or not he is gay. Eubank responded by accusing Smith of cheating on his wife. In the aftermath Eubank, who also referenced social class in the ugly exchanges, wore a rainbow armband at the weigh-in before losing to Smith in four rounds.

The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) said in a statement: “Following full consideration of the facts placed before the stewards, [they] found that the misconduct charge was proven for both boxers.” Neither boxer appeared at the hearing but Eubank Jr
