How to relieve lower back pain
For most people, muscle aches and pains in the back are a result of inactivity. Here’s how to relieve the discomfort
Lower back muscles that are tired and tense through too much sitting, standing or driving can be a precursor to back pain if ignored. “A lot of people experience tightness or a dull ache in their backs even after gym work or running,” says Lexie Williamson, a yoga instructor and the author of Yoga for Runners (Bloomsbury). “You can release that low back fatigue with simple movements at the end of the day.”
She suggests a simple DIY massage. Lie on your back and pull your legs into towards your stomach, holding just below the knees with both hands. Keep your head on the floor, using a cushion if it feels uncomfortable. “From there, rock from side to side,” Williamson says. For a lower back
