Honda is to join the coming invasion of Chinese electric cars into the UK with a relaunched tilt at the zero-emission market in Britain.

The company, which until the closure of its Swindon factory two years ago was one of Britain’s largest automotive manufacturers and employers, is releasing a fully electric small family car built in China, the e:Ny1, in the UK later this year.

This is the start of a new era for Honda,” Tom Gardner, Honda Motor Europe’s senior vice-president, said.
