George Logan was needed urgently at the Escort Club in Pimlico, central London. Patrick Fyffe was doing a drag act and his regular pianist had not shown up. Logan arrived with a few minutes to go, but Fyffe was not reassured. “Yeah, yeah, yeah,” the young Scot said, glancing briefly at the songs, “I know all those”, and disappeared to find a drink.

On stage they impressed each other with their talents and in 1972 Logan clambered into an evening frock to emerge as Dr Evadne Hinge, to Fyffe’s Dame Hilda Bracket. “Initially, Patrick was going to play an elderly lady with me as her male sidekick. But during rehearsals we tried a couple of duets and Patrick suggested performing as two ladies,” Logan recalled.
