Expect Pep Guardiola to tweak system again despite latest tactical triumph

There were still two hours to go until kick-off, but hundreds of Manchester City fans had already gathered in front of the Colin Bell Stand to get a prime position for the arrival of the newly crowned Premier League champions.

About half a dozen lads had climbed on some concrete pillars and were singing City songs while hoisting a flag above their heads. “Because we need each other,” read the lettering in the middle of the blue-and-white flag, a lyric borrowed from the Oasis song Acquiesce.

“Cos we’ve got Guardiola . . . so glad you’re mine,” they sang to the tune of Glad All Over by The Dave Clark Five.

They realise more than anyone else that City would not have beaten Arsenal
