The doctor behind a discredited anti-coronavirus treatment given to Donald Trump has been described as “a conspiracy theorist leader” by his estranged daughter, who is herself an eminent specialist.

Professor Didier Raoult, 71, a microbiologist long viewed as France’s most prominent physician, was denounced as an isolated and dictatorial figure by Magali Carcopino-Tusoli, his daughter, amid a row that has shed light on the venomous behaviour of the country’s top doctors.
