With Tesla’s first European plant up and running on the outskirts of Berlin, Elon Musk has now turned his attention to France. The billionaire flew to Paris this week to be the star guest at President Macron’s annual summit of global executives, and pledged to make a significant investment in the country. But what about the UK?

Arriving at the Élysée Palace in a convoy of Tesla cars on Monday, following an overnight flight aboard his Gulfstream G650, Musk held talks with Emmanuel Macron as the French government continues to roll out the red carpet for corporate leaders.

The country’s push has already made it the top European destination for foreign direct investment, and Macron used his latest summit to announce €13 billion worth of
